GIVING AT CCM
WHY GIVE?
As people who have benefitted from this ultimate gift, we are motivated to be just like our saviour, giving to whoever we can, whenever we can. At CCM, generosity is part of our culture and we love giving to help churches get started, the poor get lifted out of poverty and the good news about Jesus reach all around the world.
The church is the people, and the reason we can give to these things is because of the regular giving of the people who make up Christ Church Manchester.
Cheerfully. Nobody wants giving to feel forced or pressured. The Bible talks about the cheerful giver, and when you are ready to give, do so with a commitment in your heart and a smile on your face.
Proportionally. Jesus once taught that a destitute widow who gave away her last two pennies had given more than everyone else. Give based on what you have. A good rule of thumb from the Old Testament is 10% of income. The grace revealed in the New Testament inspires many people to give more than this.
Generously. The Bible makes a contrast between those who are open-handed and those who are tight-fisted. Generous giving is open-handed.
Faithfully. God is the provider. As you give, trust that he will provide you with more resources to meet your needs and enable you to give more.
Efficiently. If you are a UK tax payer and fill out a gift aid declaration with your gift, the church is able to claim an extra 25% from the taxman at no further cost to you.
