Prayer Course at Kingsway

Prayer Course

It’s a brand new term at the Kingsway site of Christ Church Manchester and we are going to do this term a little differently.

Up to Christmas our preaching series is going to look at prayer. I know, I know! You have heard a billion different sermons on prayer. Do you really need another preach that’s going to make you feel guilty about how much you pray?

This sermon series is called “Life Prayers”. We are going to look at different times in the bible that people have prayed. Whether that’s Moses prayers for Gods glory in Exodus 33 and 34 or the darkness of Psalm 88.

But we aren’t going to leave it just to Sundays. On six Wednesday evenings we are going to gather together to go through the prayer course together. This will be instead of community groups.

The prayer course is devised and run by 24/7 Prayer and Pete Greig. In the last year I have read God on Mute and Dirty Glory by Pete and have been very challenged by the way he talks about prayer, prays and the way that God seems to talk back!

These evenings will consist of a short film, some discussion and some actual prayer.

The dates the prayer course –

12th September – Adoration (Our Father in heaven)

19th September – Petition (Give us this day)

3rd October– Intercession (Your kingdom come)

10th October – Perseverance (Your will be done)

24th October – Listening (Our daily bread)

31st October – Warfare (Warfare)

You will notice that there are two weeks on and one week off in these dates! That means you have a built in week to skive – how generous is that?!

These will take place at 7:30pm in the Vashti room of Luther King House.

I think this will be a great learning journey for us to go on together.
