‘Introduction to Preaching’ is a course that we have developed as a first step on your journey as a preacher. This course is accessible to those who have not yet preached, and will still provide value for those who are already preaching.
The course is run over three Friday evenings, and it dives into some of the fundamentals of preaching. The first session is all about how we approach a Bible passage and unearth points that are true to the heart of the passage. In the second session we move onto questions of communication. How do we take those points from session one and turn them into an inspiring, engaging and challenging talk? In the third session you have a go, and you will be asked to prepare a short (7 minute) talk that you will deliver to a small group and receive some helpful feedback.
We run the course once per year – usually in February or March – and if you are interested in participating in the next Introduction to Preaching course then talk to your site leader or email hello@ccm.org.uk and we can let you know the details as the time arrives.
Note – Coming along the course doesn’t mean you you are committed to preach on a Sunday, nor does in necessarily mean you will be asked to – there are a lot of factors that feed into that, and it’s a conversation to have with your site leader. Think of it as an opportunity to dip your toe in the water and begins to figure out if it something you might want to explore.
